Tree Tops House Williamsburg,
Virginia 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps a maximum of 4 River Front House Set Among Trees With Swimming Dock and Boating PROPERTY: This vacation home, about 15 miles west of Williamsburg, Virginia, was completed in 1995. It is set on the bank of the Diascund, a tributary of the Chickahominy and James rivers. The James and York rivers form the peninsula containing Newport News, Hampton and Williamsburg. The house is partly secluded on a 4-acre property. It has a beautiful view of a wide expanse of the river on the north side. Across the small but deep river are uninhabited wetlands, which has a beaver lodge. A 75-foot pier threads through Cypress trees northwest of the house, and the dock at the pier's end can be used for swimming and fishing in the tidal fresh-water river. The river can be explored with a canoe or Johnboat at the property. Fishing equipment is available in the house. Since it is on a fresh water river, there are no stinging jellyfish, and swimming is good all summer. HOUSE:
The one-story 2-bedroom house has a wrap-around covered porch, which
faces the river and has a gas grill. Double windows and double glass
doors to the porch surround the combination living/dining room. This
room has a TV with cable and VCR, stereo radio/tape player, and wood
stove with glass door for cozy winter days. AREA: The area is mostly wooded with residential and vacation homes on or near the Diascund and Chickahominy rivers. Many good restaurants are in the Williamsburg area, which has big outlet malls and the famous Williamsburg Pottery, which is about a 15 minutes drive. A large grocery store is 10 minutes drive away. Colonial Williamsburg is a reconstructed historical town, which is a living museum of the time of the country's birth. You can walk through the town and see the houses and establishments much like they were in the 18th century. Visitor's centers at Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown, site of the first permanent European settlement have tours, movies, and interesting presentations to relive this time in history. The battlefield of the last major clash in the revolutionary war in Yorktown can be toured via a 5-mile wooded single-lane road, which begins at Surrender Field. Just east of Williamsburg is Water Country, a water park for all ages, and Busch Gardens, which is a beautiful theme park, based on the Old World. You can see many shows and take wild rides. Virginia Beach is about 1-1/2 hours away by car. The Confederate Capital of Richmond is about 45 minutes to the west. Car: 2000 Buick LeSabre
