Marco Island, Florida

Bedrooms, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps a maximum of 6 A
Beautiful Condominium with Swimming Pool & White Sandy Beaches This
condominium
is located on Marco Island, Florida. There are two bridges to the island. It is
located in an area known as "The Ten Thousand Islands". Marco is on
the southwest coast of Florida just south of Naples and Ft. Myers, where the international
airport is. The airport is one hour away. Marco is 2 1/2 hours from the Miami
airport. Marco Island is an upscale, family oriented community. There are only
3 hotels on Marco's white, sandy, crescent beach. There are a few timeshare properties
and the rest are private condominium complexes. The
condo is located on the top floor (4th) of the Seaview condominium complex. The
complex is about 25 years old but is very well maintained as all property is on
Marco Island. The walkway to access the beach is directly across the street.
The condo has two bedrooms and two baths. The second bedroom has two single
beds. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room, so the maximum occupancy is
6, but 4 would be more comfortable. The condo was completely painted in 2001.
New carpet in the two bedrooms in 2002. New tile everywhere else also in 2002.
All new furnishings were put in place the summer of 2003. A new refrigerator,
with ice maker, was installed in 2003. The condo stands alone on the 4th
floor (there is an elevator) , so there are windows on all four sides for plenty
of light. There is also a screened in patio with patio furniture located where
you can see the beach access path. It is possible to see bits of water of the
Gulf of Mexico, but you have to peek through the palm trees and between the beachfront
condos! There
is a lot to see and do in the southwest Florida area. The beach is very good
for small children, it gradually gets deep, the waves are much smaller than the
east coast of Florida, and there are no rip tides that I am aware of. In addition
to all beach activities, there is excellent fishing, kayak rentals, hiking trails
in the Everglades, standard tourist attractions, etc. There are several good web
sites for the area if you choose to do a search.
Hot Tub - Jacuzzi - Washer/Dryer -TV/Cable -Balcony/Terrace/Deck
You can see a small segment of the north end of the beach on a live cam by going
to www. marconews.com/webcam/mmbeachn/. Marco is a 6, 000 acre island with 110
miles of waterways. The beach is about 3 miles long and is anywhere from 150 and
600 feet wide! Marco Island is 104 miles west of Miami. Key West is 150 miles,
Tampa Bay is 178 miles and Orlando is 205 miles.
One
thing that you can count on is warm, sunny days. Even during the "rainy
season" (late spring and summer), showers are usually restricted to late
afternoon and pass quickly. Dolphins can be seen everyday, and it is not unusual
to see the endangered West Indian manatee which can reach 13 feet in length and
as much as 3, 000 pounds in weight! (It is also not unusual to see mosquitoes,
but not on the beach, and they aren't anywhere near as big as the manatees)! The
mosquitoes are restricted to late spring and summer but good mosquito repellent
will do the trick. The island is also a sanctuary to more than 200 species of
birds. Several
types of boats and canoes can be rented to explore the Marco River, bays,
inlets and inter-coastal waterways. There are many seasoned guides on the island
that you can charter for half or full day fishing trips, either backwater or deep
sea, for Sea Trout, Snook, Snapper, Tarpon, Grouper, and many other fish. Jet
ski tours of the backwaters of the Ten Thousand Islands can be booked on the beach.
Shelling
is extremely popular since the beach is replenished daily with abundant shells
washed in with the tide. It is the best shelling beach we have ever seen! The
island can be explored by rented bicycles or by open air trolley. Of course, one
of the most popular activities is golf. It has been reported that Collier County
has more golf possibilities per capita than anywhere in the world, including challenging
courses designed by Robert Trent Jones. Nature
Parks, all located between 10 minutes and 2 hours away, include (listed near
to far) The Conservancy's Brigg's Nature Center at Rookery Bay, Collier-Seminole
State Park, Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk, National Audubon Society's Corkscrew Swamp
Sanctuary, Big Cypress National Preserve and the Everglades National Park! We
will try to answer any questions you may have about the area.
