Of all San Francisco's pleasures--awesome views, sparkling nightlife, and unequaled cuisine--one of its "biggest" attractions, literally, is Golden Gate Park.

It covers several square miles and provides a forested cultural center within this lovely city. And it's only steps away from the elegant, 90-year-old Craftsman's Cottage we offer as a home exchange.

Within minutes, you'll find Museums, Japanese Tea Garden, Aquarium, Boating lake, newly restored Historic Conservatory of Flowers, plus all the outdoor recreational activities you can muster the energy for (bikes and hikes are plentiful and free!). There's even a little jewel of a 9-hole golf course--all right there in what many consider the world's prettiest park.

As you venture out of the Park in different directions, you're at Ocean Beach, famous Cliff House Complex, or newly remodeled SF Zoo, Lands End (the City's greatest views of GGBridge) the Haight-Ashbury district, Twin Peaks. And you still haven't explored downtown, Fisherman's Wharf, the Presidio, Chinatown, North Beach, The Embarcadero, Alcatraz.

Luckily, public transportation makes everything convenient and affordable and it stops half a block from our home. For more ambitious excursions, like our famous wine region, less than an hour away, a car may be available.

Once you're tucked into our cozy, elegant park-side hideaway you can relax amidst the Victorian touches we've accumulated in 30 years of remodeling this grand old house. It's stately, yet airy--naturally lighted by skylights and view windows that look out on the English rock-garden-fountain and landscaped backyard.

We can accommodate three people comfortably (or two parents/two kids) and another couple if we happen to be traveling when you visit.
