The
Somerset village of Cheddar is situated at the foot of The Mendip
Hills and
has been a popular tourist destination for families of all ages for
many years.
With its famous caves, gorge and Jacobs Ladder there is plenty to do
and see
locally, or if you wish to venture further afield the medieval town
of Axbridge
is just two miles away. Also close by is the cathedral city of Wells
and the
famous Glastonbury Tor, both within a comfortable 30 minute drive.
The seaside towns of Weston Super Mare and Burnham On Sea are both only
12 miles away and the Mendip Hills are right on the doorstep for keen
walkers
making Cheddar a great base for any kind of holiday. Further afield,
the beautiful
city of Bath is a 45 minute drive and historic Bristol just 30 minutes
away.
Cheddar in particular and Somerset in general is a great setting off
point for
travelling further down south towards Devon and Cornwall via the M5
motorway
which can be reached in 20 minutes.

Comment: Having had the pleasure of staying in this lovely family
house,
I can fully recommend it as a great location and home, with ample space
for
most families. It was the perfect place to go back to after a busy day
exploring
the local area. The kitchen was a delight to cook in, and is the best-equipped
kitchen in a vacation home I have come across. The two different sitting
rooms
and the conservatory ensured we all had plenty of space to socialize
or to find
a place to relax with a book!
There are wonderful walks in the area and for the more adventurous,
there is caving and rock climbing!
I am happy to answer any questions you may have!
